My daughter Kiley had a business trip planned to San Francisco, and when she called to let me know another destination was being added to extend her time and travel, she didn't have to ask me twice if I wanted to tag along.
Kiley's book publisher brought her to Phoenix for part of Creativation, a world-class vendor convention showcasing practically EVERYthing in the world of crafts. Super Simple Handlettering was finally in her hands (insert toe-touch!) and while she was promoting her first book and autographing copies, I was free to explore a bit of the city on my own.
We were in Phoenix for a long weekend which found us both in our own perfect elements: Kiley, at Creativation with other brilliantly creative minds, and I with my "2nd-favorite girl" (my D750) across my shoulder taking in a new city. *Except for the image of Kiley with her book, all images are mine and were shot with either a Nikon 20 or 85mm.
In downtown Phoenix and surrounded by the campus of Arizona State is Phoenix's first Catholic church, named a minor basilica by Pope John Paul II, The Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It hosts a beautiful courtyard that I'm sure sees plenty of photo sessions.
My a-mazing visit to the Desert Botanical Gardens will follow up as Part 2 of our visit to Phoenix. Stay tuned!
